Charkhari is also known as the “Kashmir of Bundelkhand.”
Charkhari State was founded in 1765 by Raja Khuman Singh, a Rajput of the Bundela clan. Under Raja Bikramajit Singh (1782–1829), the state became a British protectorate in 1804. The last ruler of Charkhari State signed the accession to the Indian Union on 15 August 1947. Currently, Charkhari town, the former state’s capital, is part of Uttar Pradesh
