The Kotah State issued stamps during the period from 1941 to 1949. These stamps were used for court fees and revenue purposes. The stamp features the portrait of Maharao Shri Bhim Singh II Bahadur, who was the last ruling Maharaja of the Hada Chauhan dynasty in the Princely State of Kotah. He held this position from 1940 to 1947.
Kota State, also known as Kotah State, was a princely state in India. It was centered around the city of Kota, which is now located in the state of Rajasthan.
Kota State was established in 1579. The rulers of Kota belonged to the Hada sect of the Chauhan Rajput clan and held the title of Eshaan. Maharao Ram Singh II (reigned 1828–1866) was a significant ruler during the state’s history.
On April 18, 1948, the Maharao merged Kota State with the Union of India, ending its independent existence. However, the Maharao continued to hold certain titles and privileges until 1971.
