Birth Centenary Prafulla Chandra Ray (1861-1944)

Prafulla Chandra Ray (2 August 1861 – 16 June 1944) was a renowned Indian chemist known for his pioneering work in the field of chemistry. He is considered the father of Indian chemistry for his significant contributions to the development of chemical research and education in India.

In 1961, on the occasion of his birth centenary, the Government of India issued a commemorative stamp to honor Prafulla Chandra Ray's contributions to science. The stamp features a portrait of the scientist and the inscription "Prafulla Chandra Ray".
